Running 'Repair Disk Permissions' on your Mac

Most Apple experts recommended running the "Repair Disk Permissions" on your Apple computer after the installation of any program or Mac OSX update.  Doing so solves start up problems and ensures your computer operates at its best.  The instructions below are valid for supported versions of Mac OS X.

  1. From spotlight, type "disk utility". Select the top result. 
  2. On the new window, select the drive where Mac OSX is installed in the left panel, the default is Macintosh HD.
  3. Click "Repair Disk Permissions" in the "First Aid".
