Disable power options/sleep mode - Windows Vista & 7

May 21, 2016 Ryan Murphy

We recommend  to change the default Power Options on your device when taking a secure exam to prevent your device from entering hibernation during the assessment. This may cause issues returning to the exam.

  1. Go to Start, type Power Options in the search field, press the Enter key.
  2. On the left side there is a panel, click 'Change when the computer sleeps' option.

  3. For both "On Battery" and "Plugged in" power modes, click the drop-down box which says Put the computer to sleep and select "Never".

4. Click Save Changes to finalize the new settings.
