Using Bluetooth keyboards with iPad

May 26, 2016 Kelly Basara

In order to take secure exams on iPad, one of the requirements is to enable Airplane mode. This mode will disable anything that receives a signal on the device. This includes Wi-Fi, location/GPS, mobile data, and Bluetooth. Here is what it looks like after enabling airplane mode:

In order to use a Bluetooth keyboard on the device, Bluetooth will need to be re-enabled after enabling Airplane mode. When re-enabled, the settings should resemble this:

Once Bluetooth has been enabled, make sure to pair the keyboard to the iPad. Once paired, the keyboard can be used on the exam. Pairing must be done prior to starting the exam. This cannot be done during the exam.
