How do I obtain console logs from my Mac?

When troubleshooting certain errors, it may be necessary to collect console logs that have records of activity on the machine.

1) Open the Spotlight Search by clicking the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen.

2) Type 'Console' and select the first option to open the application.

3) Select system.log on the left of the console.

4) Choose 'File' and 'Reveal in finder'. Alternatively you can press Command + R to reveal the system.log in the finder. Once displayed, drag it to the desktop. This is the file we need!
