Release Notes Examplify 3.10.2 (Windows/macOS)
What’s new in version 3.11.2 (changed from 3.11.0)
As part of our ongoing investment in security, 3.11.2. (changed from 3.11.0) includes multiple updates designed to strengthen our exam integrity safeguards. This release also includes a range of improvements and routine bug fixes. Highlights include:
-
Dark Mode: Students can use Dark Mode on Windows and macOS. This release supports this feature through a menu option in Examplify.
-
Adjustable Split View on non-essay questions: On questions where large images are placed in the question stem, students can adjust the screen to reveal more or less of the image at once.
-
Plain text paste for external content: On exams set up as Non-Secure with Block Internet (NSBI), students can paste plain text when pasting external content into an exam.
-
Updates to screen reader and tabbing in tables: Supports proper reading and tabbing when using table data within the question stem.
-
Alt-text support: When using a screen reader, supports alt text on images in the question stem.
-
Remove keyboard trap when using spreadsheet tools: Students can use their keyboard to return to the question stem, supporting accessibility requirements.
Additionally, this release formally adds support for the MacBook Neo on versions 3.11.2 (changed from 3.11.0) and 3.10.0 of Examplify.
Release Notes Examplify 3.10.0 (Windows/macOS)
Examplify for Desktop version 3.10 includes several important updates, including support for Windows ARM devices, user experience improvements, routine bug fixes, and security updates.
ARM-based devices are now supported on Examplify for Windows 3.10 and above. Users must have Windows 24H2 or greater to use an ARM-based processor. ARM-based devices are not supported for Windows versions prior to 24H2, including Windows 10. In-app messaging and published Minimum System Requirements have been updated to reflect this change. We recognize that ARM-based devices are becoming more common and are excited to deliver this milestone to support our users better.
In addition to the new feature, version 3.10 includes several user experience enhancements designed to improve clarity and reduce support inquiries:
- Essay Character Count Alerts: Students will now receive notifications at 80%, 90%, and 100% of the character limit when typing essay responses, helping them stay within guidelines without guesswork or monitoring the character count badge at the bottom of the essay editor.
- Improved Upload Guidance: The “Unable to Upload Exam” message has been redesigned to provide clearer next steps and reassurance that exam files remain secure.
- Enhanced Dashboard Navigation: The “Refresh Exam List” link has been added to the top of the Dashboard for easier access ahead of upcoming interface improvements. The lower button for “Refresh Exam List” remains for the time.
- Clearer Password Guidance: A new reminder above the password entry field clarifies that the exam password is provided by the institution, helping reduce confusion during login.
This update also includes bug fixes, as well as security updates to enhance our ability to safeguard exam integrity.
Examplify macOS/iPadOS Operating System Updates
Microsoft has announced the upcoming release of its operating system Windows 11 25H2, but the official release date is not yet available. Certifying Examplify’s compatibility with Windows 11 25H2 can only be completed after the final version of the new operating system has been released because Microsoft may make key changes right up until release.
Please keep advising students not to update to beta versions of any of these products until Apple or Microsoft officially releases them, and an announcement from our team has been shared on this page and via email.
Apple has recently released its latest operating systems, macOS 26 (Tahoe) and iPadOS 26 (Solarium). We have certified that Examplify for Mac is compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe, and Examplify for iPad (version 5.4 only) is compatible with iPadOS 26 (Solarium). Examplify's Minimum System Requirements have been updated accordingly.
Release Notes Examplify 5.4.1
This release contains the following urgent fixes:
- Corrected an issue where exam-takers could not type in the short name for an institution and instead were required to type in the full institution name when logging in for the first time
- Corrected an issue where exam-makers could not preview exams on the iPad
- Corrected an issue where users would experience a freeze when uploading exams, requiring a manual upload
In addition, we introduced a change in Examplify 5.4 that leveraged Apple’s enhanced assessment mode to control network traffic without requiring students to manually disable network access before beginning their exams. Based on your input, we are temporarily rolling back this change and restoring the previous workflow. While we continue to use Apple’s robust built-in security features, this added step provides an extra layer of assurance during testing.
Release Notes Examplify 5.4.0 (iPadOS only)
This release will include important updates for accessibility compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards, specifically addressing the minimum contrast ratio throughout the application.
We also released an update to adopt a more secure version of our assessment platform, provided to us by Apple. As part of this update, we no longer need to ask the exam-taker to turn off their Wi-Fi. While we no longer ask users to disable Wi-Fi, Examplify still maintains control over the iPad, and all network traffic is prohibited.
Release Notes Examplify 3.9.0 (Windows/macOS)
This update includes important security updates designed to promote exam integrity.
In addition to this release, we are still testing upcoming versions of the Apple and Windows operating systems. As of this notice, these new versions are not certified, and students should be reminded not to download or install operating system versions that have not completed the certification process and been updated on our Minimum System Requirements page. Please continue to watch your e-mail and this page for when that support is added.
Most importantly, Microsoft is officially retiring support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. With this announcement, we will also be retiring support for Windows 10 on October 15, 2025.
Please note that we are officially retiring support for Examplify version 3.5.4 on August 19th, 2025 with the release of Examplify version 3.9.0.
Versions supported moving forward will be listed on the Minimum System Requirements page.
Release Notes Examplify 3.8.0
This update includes important security updates designed to promote exam integrity. Most notably, Microsoft is releasing a new feature of WindowsOS, named Recall, that enables users to record their computer screen for AI-assisted playback and analysis. Recall would allow exam-takers with certain devices to record secure assessment content. This update will prevent the use of that feature during secure exams, protecting the integrity of exam content. Additional security checks beyond Recall blocking were also added to this release as part of our continual commitment to upgrade Examplify security.
- Resolved an issue with spellcheck not being disabled on fill-in-the-blank exams.
- Resolved an issue with exam sections being skipped.
Release Notes Examplify 3.7.2 (Windows/macOS)
- Resolved an issue where users with a new Apple M4 series processor were unable to use ExamID/ExamMonitor due to camera conflicts.
