Description
This guide provides answers and resources for some of our most frequently asked questions about exam uploads.
You'll find a range of information about what happens when you complete an exam in Examplify, as well as suggested guidance for identifying and troubleshooting basic issues.
Please note: your device will need an active internet connection to upload your answers, once you have completed an exam.
Exam Uploads
How do I submit my answers and/or video for an exam?
- If you are taking your exam via Examplify, you will be given the option to submit your answers when you are ready to finish your exam.
- If this is not an exam taken in Examplify, and is instead an assignment given out in the ExamSoft User Portal, please see our Legacy or Enterprise guide for uploading Performance Assessment assignments.
- After finalizing your exam, Examplify will then attempt to reconnect to the internet to begin uploading your exam file, as well as any ExamMonitor video file if your exam was monitored. Once complete, Examplify will provide you with an on-screen notification to confirm that your upload has been successful.
- Internet is required to upload your exam and video, and Examplify will not be able to proceed with any uploads if there is not an internet connection detected. If you cannot connect to internet right away or do not have an internet connection nearby to connect to, Examplify will show a pending status in the dashboard until an internet connection is detected.
- During this process, your ExamMonitor video file may take longer than your exam file to upload, so you may still see this as pending in the Examplify dashboard. For information specifically on ExamMonitor uploads, please visit this guide.
How can I confirm that my answers have uploaded successfully?
- After you've uploaded your exam answers, you will see a green checkmark beside the name of the exam in Examplify.
- You will also be able to log in to your ExamSoft User Portal, where you will be able to see a confirmation of your upload date and time.
- You should also receive a confirmation email that is sent to the email address registered with ExamSoft.
Where and when will I receive my grades ?
- Results and grades are released and shared by instructors or exam administrators at your institution, and the location and method of sharing exam grades is at their discretion. This could be via ExamSoft, via an LMS, or externally with you.
- Please note, ExamSoft Support cannot release results or grades on behalf of an institution.
- If you do not see your results immediately after uploading your exam to the portal, keep in mind that results may not automatically be shared and may require your exam administrator to release manually.
- If you've been instructed to view your exam results via ExamSoft, you can follow our guide on viewing your exam results in ExamSoft.
My upload isn't progressing in Examplify.
- Restart your device and relaunch Examplify to refresh the application.
- If Examplify is still not able to upload your answer file automatically after an exam, you can manually upload the answer file by using the ExamSoft Portal instead.
- We have a help guide which provides step-by-step instructions on how to manually upload an answer file.
Why would my upload not be going through?
- There are a number of factors to explore if your software is not automatically uploading your answer file.
- Issues can arise due to: device settings (such as admin, folder, and hardware permissions), network configuration, anti-virus, and/or exam post settings managed by your institution (if an exam has an upload deadline that has passed).
I've received the green check mark notification, but my upload isn't showing in my ExamSoft portal.
- Visit the Status page to see if there are any delays in ExamSoft's uploading services.
- Reach out to your instructor/exam administrator to confirm if they have received your submission.
- After following the steps above, attempt to manually upload your answer file.
I've missed the upload deadline.
- Some exams may have an upload deadline that is set up by the exam's administrator. You will not be able to continue with uploading your answer file if the upload window has closed.
- If performing the suggested troubleshooting steps does not work, check with an instructor or administrator for the exam to see if an upload deadline was set up for your exam. If so, you will also need to contact your instructor/exam administrator to see if they can adjust this deadline, or provide alternatives for uploading the exam as a late submission.
- Please note: ExamSoft cannot confirm the implications of a late submission, and the appropriate action will be determined by your instructor/exam administrator.
