- Once you have created your documents in Map, you are ready to start mapping them to each other.
- Each document can be mapped to as many different documents as you like, however you can only map two documents to each other at a time in the tool. For example, if you want to map your accreditation standards, instructional methods and staff names to your curriculum, you will need to map each document separately.
- The two documents you wish to map are placed side-by-side on the same screen for quick and easy comparison. The document on the left is known as the primary document, while the document on the right is known as the secondary document.
- You can only select one item at a time in the primary document, but you can select as many items as you like in the secondary document.
- Only the items you have set as mappable (the items with circles next to them) can be selected in this view. If you need additional items to be mappable you can open the document, edit the required items, then continue mapping.
To map two documents:
- Login to the Liftupp Portal on a laptop or PC (ExamSoft recommends using Google Chrome as your web browser).
- Click the Map button in the navigation bar at the top of the screen.
- Click Map Documents under the Main Menu (three dots in the top right).
- Select the documents you wish to map:
- Select 1 next to the document you wish to be your primary document and show on the left (curriculum document in the example below).
- Select 2 next to the document you wish to be your secondary document and show on the right (accreditation standards document in the example below).
- Click Apply to close the selection window and open the documents in mapping mode.
- Map the documents together:
- In the primary document on the left, select an item to map by clicking on its empty circle.
- Select one or more items in the secondary document on the right to link them together.
- Green check marks indicate which items on the right have been mapped to the selected item on the left. A link icon next to an item in the primary document indicates that it has already been mapped.
- In the example below, course learning outcomes in the curriculum on the left have been mapped to accreditation standards on the right.
- Swapping the documents:
- To reverse the positions of the primary and secondary documents on the screen, click on the Main Menu in either of the two documents and select Swap Documents.
- In the example below, this allows you to select a single accreditation standard and map it to your courses or course learning outcomes, if you prefer to map this way.
- To reverse the positions of the primary and secondary documents on the screen, click on the Main Menu in either of the two documents and select Swap Documents.
- Searching for items within documents:
- Use the search bar to locate specific words or terms in large or complex documents, instead of expanding different levels of the tree and scrolling.
- In the example below, searching for the word Prescriptions in the accreditation standards document and the word Calculations in the curriculum document displays only the items containing these words (shaded blue).
- The Map tool auto-saves every time a change is made.
- When you have finished mapping, or wish to pause, click on the Main Menu in either of the two documents and select Stop Mapping Documents to exit mapping mode.
