After exam takers complete an assessment that includes essay questions, you can export the essays to a PDF.
For example, you might want to print the PDF or extract pages from it and then distribute the essays among your graders. If you want to enable anonymous grading, the names and student IDs will be replaced by an automatically generated number (an ET ID). After the graders complete their work, you can enter the grades into ExamSoft.
Before You Begin
Create and post your assessment. Wait until the deadline has passed so that your export will include all submitted assessments.

- In ExamSoft, select the assessment that you want to grade.
- Select the Grading tab.
- On the right side of the page, select the Students view.
- If this was an anonymously graded essay (with ET IDs instead of exam taker names), display the ET ID column in the table.

- For the first essay in your PDF (or printout), locate the exam taker's name (or the ET ID, if anonymous grading was selected).
Note: Below is an example of an essay with an ET ID instead of the exam taker's name.
- Scroll to find the matching name (or ET ID) on the screen, and then select the pencil icon for this exam taker.

- Scroll down to enter the score and (optional) comments.
- Select Save and Continue, and continue until you've entered all of the scores for this exam taker.
