Monitoring Files Upload Support (With Video)

Problem

If your exam has finished but your ExamMonitor video files are stuck on "Pending Upload," don't worry. Because video files are larger than typical exam files, they require a stable connection and a little extra processing time to send securely to your instructor. This guide will help you answer the following questions:

  • My instructor says my monitoring file isn’t uploaded, but Examplify says it’s uploaded. How do I upload it?
  • How do I upload my pending files?

Procedure

  • Video Guide
  • Restart Device
  • Check Upload Speed
  • Try Different Internet Connection
  • Keep Examplify Open

Steps to Take

Watch the video below to learn how to verify your proctoring files uploaded successfully. Please feel free to pause and review the steps or adjust the playback speed as needed. Otherwise, review an overview of the steps below:

1. Restart Your Device

Starting with a refreshed slate could be the simple fix. If after the exam, your computer's services or network processes get bogged down, a device restart could help free up some additional resources.

  • Restart your device and reopen the Examplify application. The app will automatically attempt to resume the video upload from where it left off.
  • Don’t worry. Examplify saves your answer and video files securely on your device after you have closed your exam, so you can restart your device.

2. Check Your Internet Upload Speed

ExamMonitor files contain video and audio recordings that require a stronger connection to transfer than just your answer files.

  • Open your web browser and search for "Google Speed Test". Run the test and look specifically at your Upload Speed.
  • ExamMonitor requires an upload speed of at least 2.5 Mbps. If your speed is below this, the upload will lag or pause entirely.

3. Switch to a Mobile Hotspot

If your home or campus Wi-Fi network is running too slow, or if multiple people are sharing the connection, your files may not upload.

  • Disconnect from your current Wi-Fi network and switch over to a mobile hotspot using your smartphone's cellular data. This often provides the quick burst of upload speed needed to push large video files through.

4. Keep Examplify Open

Video uploads cannot run in the background if the application is shut down.

  • Leave the Examplify application completely open and your computer powered on. Do not let your laptop go into "Sleep Mode" or close the lid until the upload progress bar finishes.
