Login Issues - Invalid Username & Password (With Video)

Problem

If you are receiving an "Invalid Username or Password" error when attempting to log in, the solution depends on how your specific institution manages your account credentials. Because accounts are fully created and managed by your institution, ExamSoft Support cannot look up your password or manually reset it for you. This guide will help you answer the following questions:

  • How do I reset my password?
  • Why am I not receiving the password reset emails?
  • How do I create an account?
  • What are my credentials?

Steps to Take

Watch the video below to learn how to identify your login type and get back into your account. Please feel free to pause and review the steps or adjust the playback speed as needed. Otherwise, review an overview of the steps below:

1. Identify Your Login Type

Schools connect to ExamSoft in one of two ways. Look at your login screen to see which one applies to you:

Single Sign-On (SSO)

  • How to tell: When you type in your institution name, the screen automatically redirects you to a familiar portal like Google, Microsoft Office 365, Okta, or your institution's custom landing page.
  • What to do: You must use your official institution email password (the same one you use for your school email or student dashboard). If you get an "invalid password" error here, you must contact your school’s IT Helpdesk to reset your password. ExamSoft Support cannot assist with making changes to your account.

Standard ExamSoft Credentials

  • How to tell: You stay entirely on the ExamSoft website or inside the Examplify app, entering your email and a password created specifically for this platform.
  • What to do: Proceed to the password reset steps below.

2. Reset Standard ExamSoft Passwords

If your school uses standard credentials instead of single sign-on, follow these steps to reset your access:

New Users: Check Your Email Invitation

If this is your very first time using ExamSoft, you cannot log in until you activate your account. Once your institution creates your account, they should send you an email invitation .Search your email inbox for an invitation link from noreply@examsoft.com.

You must click that specific link to accept the invite and create your password before the system will recognize your account.

Returning Users: Reset Your Password

Follow the instructions in the link below based on which ExamSoft portal your institution uses.

Once your password is successfully changed, try logging into your account again.
